The lawyer gets Jackson to shut up and then starts questioning witnesses, all of whom could be suspects given that most accessed Ava’s dressing room before her death. So she does what she always does in these situations and calls McBride to assist. This swift, sloppy justice mollifies Senator Fletcher and the public, but Detective Roberta McBride (Marta DuBois) has serious doubts about Jackson’s guilt. ![]() Ava’s father (Eric Pierpoint) certainly thinks he’s to blame, and he uses his clout as a U.S. He gets himself in more trouble by sobbing endlessly about his own guilt. Unemployed actor Jackson Sumner (Tom Parker) finds himself accused of killing his fiancée, Ava Fletcher (Josie Davis), a star violinist for the L.A. ![]() Their latest client very much falls into this category. The two have a soft spot for bewildered innocents, murder suspects who can’t believe they’ve been blamed for a violent crime and who have no way of retaining adequate representation. While not my favorite Hallmark offering, I’ve largely enjoyed the run thanks to likable performances from Larroquette and Matt Lutz, who plays McBride’s assistant and junior partner, Phil Newberry. The McBride mystery series comes to a close with Requiem, the tenth outing for police detective turned lawyer Mike McBride (John Larroquette).
